Day One – Ship Cove to Furneaux Lodge (5.5-hour walk – 17km)
Beginning in Picton enjoy a scenic boat ride to historic Ship Cove (Meretoto). After exploring the Captain Cook monument, embark on a steady climb through virgin native forest. The track eventually descends through Resolution Bay into Endeavour Inlet at Furneaux Lodge. Afternoon transfer to Punga Cove Resort.
Day Two – Furneaux Lodge to Punga Cove Resort (4-hour walk – 12km)
Take a morning water taxi back to Furneaux Lodge to rejoin the track. This gentle, coastal path is perfect for spotting birdlife and enjoying a leisurely lunch. The day finishes at Punga Cove Resort, where individual bush chalets offer stunning inlet views. Unwind in the spa, take a dip in the solar-heated pool, or enjoy dinner in the award-winning restaurant.
Day Three – Punga Cove to Portage Resort (8-hour walk – 23km)
Tackle the most challenging and rewarding section of the track. You'll climb steeply from Punga Cove onto the undulating ridgeline separating Queen Charlotte Sound and Kenepuru Sound, offering sweeping panoramic views. You will eventually descend to Portage Resort Hotel, which provides comfortable ensuite rooms and excellent local food and wine.
Day Four – Portage Resort Hotel to Anakiwa (7-hour walk – 20km)
Your final day begins with a climb to the saddle between Kenepuru Sound and the Grove Arm. As you traverse the ridgeline, you'll be treated to breathtaking vistas before descending through lush, regenerating native forest. The track concludes gently at Anakiwa, where your water taxi awaits to transfer you back to Picton.
